Pot Roast

The pot roast is one of the most popular American family dishes.  Essentially, Pot Roasting is a method of slowly cooking meat utilising a covered pot to product moist, tasty meat.  The advantage with pot roasting over traditional oven roasting is that it brings flavor out of older and less-expensive cuts of meat which means a delicious dinner can be created that is also cost-effective.

Beef is most commonly used for Pot Roasting although many other meats can be used (see the pot roast recipes section for ideas on how to spice up your pot roasting).  Along with some root vegetables and a little water, the beef is cooked over a low flame.
